By The Pricking of My Thumbs…. THE HAUNTS ARE COMING!
Labor Day digs a traditional grave to lay sunshine and beach frolics to rest as our Summer of Screams comes to an end. August offerings provided an appetizer, if you will, for the real meat of the year. September 23rd is the Fall equinox and the fact that the calendar reads “September” at all heralds Autumn in the midst of these hellish temps. So here we go… a list of goodies to launch us into full fledged haunt season. I’ll be updating this, as always. For now… enjoy. Continue reading By The Pricking of My Thumbs…. THE HAUNTS ARE COMING!

Sinister Pointe’s Spirit Lounge is a Horror Oasis in Unassuming Downtown Brea
Perched high above downtown Brea, an eerie green glow can be seen cloaked in a canopy of mossy leaves and mist. To a keen ear, the spooky soundtrack that trickles out to the street below can be followed a la Toucan Sam style to a horrific oasis. This is the Sinister Pointe Spirit Lounge. The Nun from The Conjuring universe serves holy water from behind the bar and sprays you down with it. A decrepit butler by the name of Grimsby shuffles about, sweeping and dusting table tops, cobwebs and even patrons. Damsels of Destruction Crashing Against Breast Cancer – Demolition Derby in Support of Susan G Komen Foundation
I’ve always wanted to witness a Demolition Derby. The closest I’ve ever been to one was standing outside an amphitheater at the fair while catching the tail end of a derby in tiny glimpses. So imagine this HorrorGirl’s delight when I went to the OC Fair and realized there was a demolition derby that very night! Not only was it a demolition derby, it was an ALL FEMALE demolition derby. Not only was it an all female demolition derby, but it was a charity event raising money for the Susan G Komen Foundation. For those of you who don’t know, my Mom beat the shit out of breast cancer this year, finishing her treatment just last month… and my kickass aunt is currently beating the crap out of it. It’s always been an important cause to my family and me, now it’s extra personal for us all. Now, I wish I could say this badass charity derby was the reason I was at the fairgrounds in the first place… But it happened to be a happy, very lucky accident. Or maybe… fate.
