Come along for a little (spoiler-free) sneak peak!
My buddy Jordan Santos made something super cool and fun with a group of fiends. The latest music video for Los Angeles based band Spirit in the Room features some heavy horror influences and it’s a hell of a lot of fun.
Director Jordan’s one wish… that this video finds its way to the eyeballs of the one and only Drew Barrymore who he heavily pays tribute to here. So share away, creepazoids!
Love in in the air… and by that of course, I mean a love for the macabre. If you’re fiending for February spookiness, take a look…
I’ve got you covered with some spooky sexy shit.
We go behind the scenes with Zion Fenwick, the twisted mind behind Twisted Minds Productions and chat about the upcoming Gremlins Fan Tribute Experience!
The experience runs December 20-22nd, 6-9:30pm. It’s free but if you want to skip the line like a VIP, make a donation and reserve your spot.

Labor Day digs a traditional grave to lay sunshine and beach frolics to rest as our Summer of Screams comes to an end. August offerings provided an appetizer, if you will, for the real meat of the year. September 23rd is the Fall equinox and the fact that the calendar reads “September” at all heralds Autumn in the midst of these hellish temps. So here we go… a list of goodies to launch us into full fledged haunt season. I’ll be updating this, as always. For now… enjoy. Continue reading By The Pricking of My Thumbs…. THE HAUNTS ARE COMING!→
Perched high above downtown Brea, an eerie green glow can be seen cloaked in a canopy of mossy leaves and mist. To a keen ear, the spooky soundtrack that trickles out to the street below can be followed a la Toucan Sam style to a horrific oasis. This is the Sinister Pointe Spirit Lounge. The Nun from The Conjuring universe serves holy water from behind the bar and sprays you down with it. A decrepit butler by the name of Grimsby shuffles about, sweeping and dusting table tops, cobwebs and even patrons. It’s maximum melting weather for us baby vamps, but not to worry… here’s an array of climate controlled activities (many involving darkened theaters), to keep the spooky spirit alive all summer long. Your humble Horrorgirl is LA based, so aside from nationwide movie release dates… this list is tailored for you SoCal Creeps:
Alright, goo goo mucks…. Lots of questions about the I Like Scary Movies Experience coming in! The pictures I was posting on my story are from this, Click here to get your tickets on their website. No, it’s not a haunt (no scare actors, nobody popping out to make you crap your pants. Although I did get very startled once, and jumped far enough to give my friends a good laugh). Yes, it’s super cool. Essentially an immersive art installation based on five iconic films. It’s a lot of fun even if you’re just a casual fan. I was probably the biggest horror nerd in our group, but safe to say everyone was enjoying it as much as I was. Heads up: parking around the venue at night time sucks, unless you’re lucky and score a close meter (which we miraculously managed) but the El Rey is right across the street and has $10 valet parking. Scroll down for pictures from the experience, buuuut if you’re in LA and haven’t checked it out… maybe don’t look at the pictures yet, don’t spoil it and surprise yourself when you get there. If you’re not in LA or if you’re not gonna go, orrr if you’re on the fence, then feel free to scroll down and check out some of the pics. Also putting together a video, but that will be short because I didn’t format my card and ran out of space!
The Dead Don’t Die. Ok, a zombie movie with an insane all-star cast, (Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, Caleb Landry Jones, Iggy Pop, RZA, Selena Gomz, Adam Driver, Chloe Sevigny, Danny Glover, Rosie Perez, Sara Driver, Carol Kane and Tom Waits) is announced on April Fool’s Day… is it a joke or a HorrorGirl’s dream come true? There’s a trailer and a release date. So I think Focus Features is really gifting us with this undead goodness! Check out the trailer:
Twilight Zone on CBS All Access hosted by Jordan Peele. The first episode is up on YouTube for free, but the rest of the season requires a subscription ($5.99/month or $9.99/month for no commercials). You can sign up for a one week trial, but only two of the ten episodes have been released so far. The Grove had a Twilight Zone popup experience over the weekend to promote the show’s premiere and I’m pretty bummed I missed it! If you were able to check it out, let me know how it was.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 is coming to Netflix this Friday. Check out the latest promo:
Stephen King rules! Pet Sematary hits theaters this Friday, with select screenings Thursday night. So far looks like at least one major switch to the original story in the trailer. Overall vibe is creepy AF though, looking forward to seeing what they did with it. Also, so on board with John Lithgow as Jud.

The much anticipated I Love Scary Movies experience opens to the public this Thursday, April 4th! Did you get your tickets yet?
Halloween Club’s 7th Annual Spookshow is this Saturday! 12-7pm, tickets are free. Creepy vendors and entertainment, major Halloween Club sales and an all around celebration of Halloween in April. Creepy Cousins vended the last two and it was such an amazing experience. Meeting you guys is seriously our favorite part of running the company and we are so sad to be missing out this year. But go forth and creep extra hard for us! Head to their website to get your free tix.
Monsterpalooza isn’t until next weekend, but this thing has really been growing in popularity over the last couple of years, so make sure to get your tickets in advance. This lineup is one of the coolest I’ve seen yet and it’s the most sad I’ve been to miss out since the What We Do In the Shadows guys were in attendance. Bruce Campbell and Paul Reubens are enough to make me cry a little. The only good thing about having to miss this one is knowing I won’t be able to embarrass myself in front of Danielle Harris next weekend.
What We Do in the Shadows was by far my favorite movie of 2014. I show it to anyone I can, because it’s brilliant and amazing and feels like it still hasn’t fully gotten the recognition it deserves on a wider scale. But then when you meet someone who can quote it with you, I guess it’s sort of like being in a cool little club. But I digress…. the film has now been made into a SERIES, and is premiering March 27th on FX. This time, the documentary crew will be following three vampires in New York, so we’ve got new characters and a new cast but original creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi are still behind this which makes me pretty confident it will be nothing short of fucking brilliant and maybe even my new favorite show.
The countdown to weekly Joe Bob is coming down to the final wire… weekly does star THIS FRIDAY, March 29th on Shudder. Can’t wait to partake in all the drive-in goodness!
