I’ve heard it’s too long… honestly there’s nothing I would have cut from this film. It didn’t FEEL long. I probably could have happily watched more of the Losers club. Continue reading IT Chapter 2 Review: Stephen King Rules and Andy Muschietti Is Pretty Badass, Too
Labor Day digs a traditional grave to lay sunshine and beach frolics to rest as our Summer of Screams comes to an end. August offerings provided an appetizer, if you will, for the real meat of the year. September 23rd is the Fall equinox and the fact that the calendar reads “September” at all heralds Autumn in the midst of these hellish temps. So here we go… a list of goodies to launch us into full fledged haunt season. I’ll be updating this, as always. For now… enjoy. Continue reading By The Pricking of My Thumbs…. THE HAUNTS ARE COMING!
What better way to get in the mood for the release of IT Chapter Two than a whole heaping of King? Alamo Drafthouse and Shudder are teaming up to bring a special program of a whole lot of Stephen King goodness. Exploring the wacky and the weird, the terrifying and the tender. Schedule varies by market, but the Los Angeles location is screening IT (2017), Maximum Overdrive, Stand By Me, The Running Man, The Dead Zone, Dolores Claiborne, The Mist and Cujo. The Dead Don’t Die. Ok, a zombie movie with an insane all-star cast, (Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, Caleb Landry Jones, Iggy Pop, RZA, Selena Gomz, Adam Driver, Chloe Sevigny, Danny Glover, Rosie Perez, Sara Driver, Carol Kane and Tom Waits) is announced on April Fool’s Day… is it a joke or a HorrorGirl’s dream come true? There’s a trailer and a release date. So I think Focus Features is really gifting us with this undead goodness! Check out the trailer:
Twilight Zone on CBS All Access hosted by Jordan Peele. The first episode is up on YouTube for free, but the rest of the season requires a subscription ($5.99/month or $9.99/month for no commercials). You can sign up for a one week trial, but only two of the ten episodes have been released so far. The Grove had a Twilight Zone popup experience over the weekend to promote the show’s premiere and I’m pretty bummed I missed it! If you were able to check it out, let me know how it was.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 is coming to Netflix this Friday. Check out the latest promo:
Stephen King rules! Pet Sematary hits theaters this Friday, with select screenings Thursday night. So far looks like at least one major switch to the original story in the trailer. Overall vibe is creepy AF though, looking forward to seeing what they did with it. Also, so on board with John Lithgow as Jud.
Go Do This:
The much anticipated I Love Scary Movies experience opens to the public this Thursday, April 4th! Did you get your tickets yet?
Halloween Club’s 7th Annual Spookshow is this Saturday! 12-7pm, tickets are free. Creepy vendors and entertainment, major Halloween Club sales and an all around celebration of Halloween in April. Creepy Cousins vended the last two and it was such an amazing experience. Meeting you guys is seriously our favorite part of running the company and we are so sad to be missing out this year. But go forth and creep extra hard for us! Head to their website to get your free tix.
Monsterpalooza isn’t until next weekend, but this thing has really been growing in popularity over the last couple of years, so make sure to get your tickets in advance. This lineup is one of the coolest I’ve seen yet and it’s the most sad I’ve been to miss out since the What We Do In the Shadows guys were in attendance. Bruce Campbell and Paul Reubens are enough to make me cry a little. The only good thing about having to miss this one is knowing I won’t be able to embarrass myself in front of Danielle Harris next weekend.
I am nerding out sooo hard right now! If you haven’t finished Castle Rock, don’t read this. While the finale left me not entirely fulfilled, it was still a fun show and interesting enough for a recommended watch. Especially for King fans, half the fun was spotting Easter eggs along the way… Continue reading Castle Rock: Jackie Torrance Potential Season Two Plotline?
